Backstage at DWTS: Joanna Admits Her Shocking Elimination "Sucks"

Backstage at DWTS: Joanna Admits Her Shocking Elimination "Sucks"
That's gonna leave a mark.

In what can only be called the most jaw-dropping elimination so far this season on Dancing With the Stars, Joanna Krupa (who Carrie Ann Inaba thought might win) was sent packing last night.

We were backstage after the show and can tell you Joanna was feeling the sting.

"Being so close, it sucks not being able to go to the finals," Joanna tells us. "But I guess it is what it is."

Still, part of her saw it coming. "It was a hard competition and I knew that tonight anything could happen, so I was prepared for it."

Oh, and you won't believe who she and partner Derek Hough think may win...

They're all about supporting the girl who snatched the finals spot out from under them with her relentless underdog charm: Kelly Osbourne.

"We're definitely proud of Kelly," Derek told us. "She's grown so much, you just can't help but love her and root for her."

Derek and Joanna also hinted that they'll be doing much more than just sitting idly by in the audience for a camera op next week.

"We have a funny thing planned," Derek teased. "It's going to be fun."

And, of course, there is the teensiest sense of relief they don't have to work quite so hard this week. "Right now we're all sad," Derek said to Joanna. "But when we wake up tomorrow we'll be like, woo!"

Joanna said she didn't think she'd get to week nine, but someone else did. "There was no doubt in [my fiancé's] mind that I was going to make the finals. He's very disappointed."

Are you as shocked as we are that Joanna got the heave-ho? Who will win next week? Who should win?

So You Think You Can Dance Backstage Scoop: Did Fangirls Frak the Results?

So You Think You Can Dance Backstage Scoop: Did Fangirls Frak the Results?
Mollee Gray and Nathan Trasoras' devoted fanbase made all the difference this week on So You Think You Can Dance. Had Mollee and Nathan's fans not voted their couple safe during last night's competition show, the bottom six would have had a different composition, and it's possible that another couple might have gone home.

So who did go home tonight, how did Mollee and Nathan change the game, and which dancer might be too sexy for her own good? Here's what we learned from chatting with the judges after the top 16 results show...

Tiny little Pauline Mata and tapper Peter Sabasino were sent home tonight, due to a combination of the quickstep curse, lackluster solos and what all three judges characters as a lack of "star moments" during their time on the show.

Judge Nigel Lythgoe told us that Pauline was selected to leave because, "I think we thought that Ellenore had the most fantastic tango [the other week]. And we love Karen. She's got style that's outstanding and she was going nowhere tonight. So all you can do is weigh it up against those two."

As for the boys, Nigel told us that Peter became the odd man out because, "We think Ryan is a great partner, and Kevin is growing week on week." And of course, it doesn't hurt that well-muscled Ryan has that heartthrob potential. As judge Adam Shankman told us after the show, "Anyone who spends that much time with their shirt off is likely to get hearts throbbing."

As for the overall competition yesterday, Nigel told us that the bottom three couples would have been composed of different people had the judges had their druthers: "[Our bottom couples] would have included Nathan and Mollee. Not to get rid of them, but to give them the little smack on the back of the leg and say, 'You've got to wake up.' Nathan in particular, you've got to wake up."

The judges also confided concern that sexpot Karen Hauer might have some difficult connecting with the audience as the competition progresses. As Adam Shankman put it to us backstage, "I think that what Nigel said is pretty realistic—that Karen's confidence and sensuality may effect the younger voters. They may not vote for her, because she looks like the girl who's going to take all their boyfriends anyway."

Did the judges make the right call? Are you one of Mollee and Nathan's fangirls? And what did you think of the special Alvin Ailey performance and the Dave Scott-choreographed warrior-themed group dance featuring "fight" between Jakob and Legacy? Tell us in the comments!

Party Patrol: Nicole Richie Misses Her Own Bash

Party Patrol: Nicole Richie Misses Her Own Bash
Nicole Richie was too sick to attend her own party, but the House of Harlow launch at Bebe in Beverly Hills went on without her.

The fashionista has some kind of flu, but was feeling well enough to update her Twitter about how she ordered takeout tonight. Hope the delivery man doesn't catch her bug.

Across town at the Shine On Sierra Leone party at Playhouse, Lindsay Lohan and Lamar Odom were on the tip sheet, but an hour into the party there were still no celebs. So if the stars weren't going to be there, then neither was I.

Over at the Puma bash on Wilshire, Jessica Stroup was walking through the back parking lot by herself. Edward Norton made a low-key entrance with a guy and a girl. Word is he tried getting his Fight Club costar Brad Pitt to attend, but no such luck. Hey, if we had Angie at home, it'd be hard to make us leave the house, too.

Plus, this party has Port-a-Potties for celebs and plebes alike. Thumbs down.

Next up for me and the party posse: Maxim's party at Voyeur hosted by Kristen Bell. See you there—or check back tomorrow to find out what happened.

Britney Spears Riles Up Fans Down Under

Britney Spears Riles Up Fans Down Under
Britney Spears brought the Circus to town, but probably not the way she was hoping to.

Fans have been complaining about the quality of the pop tart's performance Down Under, even walking out of her show in Perth, according to reports in the Australian media.

The cause? Disgruntled concertgoers apparently accused the pop tart of lip-syncing during the dance numbers, as well as giving a lackluster performance overall, according to the Daily Telegraph.

One story even claimed she was "boring."

John Mayer, who is in Australia promoting his album, joined the lip-syncing Twitterfest Sunday night, tweeting, "If you're shocked that Britney was lip-syncing at her concert and want your money back, life may continue to be hard for you."

And what were Brit's people saying? Read on...

The promoter of this tour leg refuted claims of fans fleeing the Circus, telling The Australian newspaper "Britney is aware of all this and she's extremely upset by it."

Also issuing a nuanced response were reps for the Burswood Entertainment Complex where the Perth concert was held, who announced, "From Burswood's perspective, the event was a huge success."

Not sure how well that response will go over with the woman who told the Telegraph, "It was a waste of $200—I could have got four pairs of shoes for that."

Spears' manager, Adam Leber, also came to the superstar's defense via Twitter, claiming that it was the work of a sole Australian journalist that sparked the lip-synch debate.

"It's unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn't enjoy the show last night. Fortunately the other 18,272 fans in attendance did."

Tell that to the shoe-loving Spears fan.
